Set on the land in Denne Park and Chesworth Farm Estates over 300 runners were treated to a mostly off road 4.5 mile course with open fields (watch out for that cow..........and that one!), a few small hills (it is a fun run league), wooded paths and just a small offering of mud. This beautiful setting was complimented by a very well signposted route and a fantastic group of volunteers.
Anyone concerned that the parking arrangements, HQ and the start are not in the same location don't worry: Horsham Joggers signposting and marshalling was on the scale of a city marathon so no-one could get lost.
Prior to the run Stef surprised two of our entrants with trophies for being the WSFRL Most Attended Worthing Striders (female and male). Well done to Laura Carter and Paul Hurley who both came so close to the coveted 'Completers T-shirt' but will have a little something for the mantelpiece in honour this achievement. Fingers crossed for that t-shirt next year!
This was the 17th and last race of the league and saw Worthing Striders heading to the start in 2nd for Club Improvement and placed 14th for Club Ranking out of 18 competing clubs.
Well done to our eight runners today and thank you (and Conor) for seeing in all of our runners at the finish line.
Results will be available on the WSFRL website and a final round up will be posted on Club News in due course.
The 2017 WSFRL race calendar will be available soon: the 1st race of the season kicks off with Goring Road Runners 'Hangover 5' on Sunday 1 January. Please speak to Ian Puttock or James Oram if you'd like to sign up.
