The Worthing Striders primary representative for the league has been Stef Ransley with assistance from Laura Carter (they're like a buy one get one free, lol!): Stef has thoroughly enjoyed the role which she took over from Vicki Sadler and Andy Saych in October last year. After much consideration Stef has decided the closure of the 2016 is a good time to take a step back and focus on other aspects of volunteering for the club, as well as on her own running.
For our newer members: the league is currently made up of 18 member clubs from around Sussex. Each club holds an annual event which is open to any runner regardless of whether they are affiliated to the league. Runners from member clubs are awarded points for participation as well as position. Clubs accrue points over the year and compete for the Norman Crook Memorial Trophy. There is also a 'most improved' accolade to be collected too.
Many of the clubs also take the opportunity to a offer 'in-house' achievements to their participating runners.
Race results as of event 12 (event 15 was on the 8 October) has Worthing Striders sitting in 12th (up from 17th at the same time last year) and in joint 2nd for club improvement, again up from 2015.
If any of our members are interested in becoming a WSFRL Rep for the 2017 season more information can be found on the league website, you can also contact Stef via the Worthing Striders mailbox if you'd like to catch up with her for an overview of her role. Alternatively please express your interest to a committee member who will happily talk you through the role and how to get involved.
The WSFRL Rep role is not a committee role and the season of tenure runs from January to December (final event and AGM is in November).
